AMC API: HTTP 429 Too Many Requests
Exceeding the rate limit of an AMC API returns 429. Amazon recommends exponential backoff with jitter instead of coding to fixed limits.
Symptom
Requests to the AMC API answer with status code 429.
Cause
AMC limits requests per API (token bucket). The limits differ per API and can change; Amazon does not publish numbers.
Fix
- Build retries with exponential backoff and jitter.
- Do not code to specific limits, as they change.
- Poll execution status less often and do not start many executions in one burst.
