Audience Segment Insights in AMC: tables, snapshots and query rules
In short: Audience Segment Insights (ASI) allows user-to-segment analyses across all Amazon Ads data in AMC and segment-level analyses for uploaded data. There are tables per region (AMER, EU, APAC) and category (in-market, lifestyle), plus monthly snapshots. Amazon's key rule: never more than one segment table and one region per query.
The tables
audience_segments_[amer|apac|eu]_inmarketand…_lifestyle: the most recent user-to-segment associations, refreshed daily (type DIMENSION).audience_segments_[amer|apac|eu]_inmarket_snapshotand…_lifestyle_snapshot: historical associations, logged monthly on the first Thursday of the calendar month (type FACT).segment_metadata: describessegment_idandsegment_marketplace_id. Join it on both columns (double join).segment_idis not globally unique, only persegment_marketplace_id.
Amazon's query rules
- Never more than one
audience_segments_<region>_<category>table in one query. - Never segment tables of several regions (AMER/EU/APAC) in one query.
- Always filter by
segment_marketplace_id. - Filter by
segment_idwhenever the analysis can be narrowed to a subset. - For snapshots restrict time range and segment scope with SQL; that speeds the query up and raises the success rate.
- For snapshots the date range must include the first Thursday of the month in question.
- When joining snapshots with traffic or conversion data use only one snapshot per analysis. Workflows with these tables time out over extended periods.
